Since 1905, Chazy Westport Telephone has been an independent local telephone company with offices in Chazy and Westport New York. Westelcom was formed in 1982 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Chazy Westport Telephone.
Since Westelcom's inception it has grown from a telephone systems installation provider to a regional telecommunication carrier providing highly advanced telecommunications solutions throughout the 6 county region of Northern New York spanning from Lake Ontario to Lake Champlain. Westelcom's professional staff has over 150 years of combined experience in the telecommunications and information technology industries providing carrier class communication solutions design, implementation and support.
Since 2002, Westelcom has focused on designing and constructing highly redundant and scalable fiber networks. Westelcom's multi ringed fiber network spans throughout the 315/680 and 518/838 New York State area codes with redundant connectivity to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) in Albany and Syracuse, New York.
Westelcom's secure, dedicated network contains multiple nodes on its fully redundant ringed fiber network providing last mile fiber access and connectivity with internet access points in Montreal, Quebec and Syracuse, New York providing our customers direct secure connections to all major cloud platforms from Microsoft, Amazon and Google.
Westelcom operates 3 data centers strategically located throughout New York State in Watertown, Plattsburgh and Syracuse. The Syracuse datacenter is a neutral colocation facility where Westelcom interconnects with national and statewide fiber networks.
Westelcom's extensive operational experience in network design, construction, provisioning, support and billing is unsurpassed in the New York State. For the last 13 years, Westelcom has been awarded the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) Commendation for Excellent Service.
